Did you take the subject test, or just the general GRE? I'm pretty positive I'm never going to take the subject test--it doesn't seem nearly worth it--but I'm still considering the general GRE. I kind of hate the idea of studying for the test and actually taking it, though. Did you find it difficult at all? I bought a GRE book a couple of weekends ago and am considering returning it, but I keep wavering. Maybe it's best to just take the test now, in case I need the scores somewhere down the line...
Well, I'm no grad adviser, but if I were you (or if I were me about four years ago) I wouldn't take either of the GREs. Almost all of the grad programs I've looked at don't require either of them, so what's the point? And if you find a grad program you want to get into that does require the GRE, it's apt to just be the general one, and you can take that pretty much whenever.
But yeah, I took both the general and the literature subject test. The general was stupidly easy. The subject test was a bit harder for me because it focused on dead white British authors and my college education had been a bit more...freeform...but even still it wasn't too hard.

Blah. It seems a silly requirement, anyway.
