Blink The Book

May 04, 2005 16:39

I read the first few pages of Blink, the new book by Malcolm Gladwell, immediatly discovered that it was an awesome idea, and went back to watching West Wing reruns.

I guess I'm suprised that people are reading the whole book... they must not get it.

Why didn't you keep reading?

... Were you intuitively repulsed?

No, I liked it immediatly, and agreed with it. So I didn't have to read it.

isn't it satisfying to see someone complete an argument if you like it, though?

I read a few pages on Amazon - I think I'd like to read the whole thing.

The library's got.. whoa, according to this, eleven copies.

You apparently don't understand the book, if you read thge beginning on Amazon and now feel compelled to read the whole book :P

What exactly do you get? That people have intuition? Very impressive, Max. Even more impressive that you post something just to make people feel stupid (or to make you look smart).

It was a joke. I thought it was funny. Jesus christ... I'm not "making a statement..." here... it was just a joke. Let me explain:

Blink says that you should go with your gut reaction to somthing because it will be the most accurate. My joke was, I looked at Blink, had a gut reaction to the idea, and so I didn't need to read the book. Get it? It's self-depricating humor... damn.

Nice job today Max! Even if Dan Quinn is quite wrong. It was fun.
