Stop picking on Bill from "True Blood"!

One thing I've noticed about True Blood that annoys me is the glorification of Eric at Bill's expense, on and off the show. Bill is dismissed as a wimp and a dullard and so forth, in contrast to Eric's "strength" and godly perfection.

YAYS! Back at you. I watched the first season and thought it was fun (my favorite moment was Pam saying, "There's vampire in your cleavage"), but Season 2 really had me riveted ( ... )

Oh, don't get me wrong in that... I like the show much, much better than the books. I actually just read the books to get some idea of the future plotlines, heh (and, surprisingly, they still take an awful lot from the books; I think Alan Ball said they started out with something like an 80-20% ratio, his original stuff being the 20, and have moved into more 60-40% by the third season, but that's still plenty!) And one of the things I like about the TV show is the actors and how they make the characters come to life, and I think at the top of that is Bill. He and Sookie (and not necessarily as a couple but as individual characters) are the show for me and Stephen Moyer... damn, he's just so good, and so likable ( ... )

Sam's great! I kind of liked him with Tara, though I knew they couldn't last. Poor Tara; she always gets hit with the shit. Jason accidentally killed Eggs, who was the love of her life so far...and she'd had a crush on Jason for a long time, because when she, as a child, fled to his and Sookie's house to escape from her drunk mother, Jason stood up to her mother despite being a child himself ( ... )

Argh! LOL! *is Eric Sookie shipper* But I was as soon as I read the novels just after season 1 started. Personally I prefer the TV show (Lafayette!!!) to the books.
That said, I promise not to diss Bill in your journal! Not that I would anyway; there's stuff about Bill that will come out eventually I guess. ;~)

Stuff about Bill coming out...yeah, so I've been told. I've never read the books, but I really became addicted to the TV show in its second season. Lafayette was such a popular character on the show that the show's writers knew they couldn't kill him off, especially not as soon as the books do.

I don't hate Eric at all, and I'd never dis him to make Bill look better...I was just tired of the reverse happening, and it happens all over the place, even in the show itself.

And thanks for promising not to dis Bill in my LJ...as I said to ghani above, I'm not really a Sookie/Bill shipper, I just hate seeing Bill be degraded for Eric's benefit.

Your avatar...hoo MAMA. I do not dispute that Eric is ridiculously hot. One recap of the episode which featured that scene remarked, "Eric is so fucking naked it hurts." I know what they meant.
