A certain C. Fisher addresses the cocaine issue

Oct 14, 2010 11:55

Evidently the furor over her confession to using cocaine on the set of ESB has gotten back to her. She's currently in Australia, on tour for her one-woman show, "Wishful Drinking."

This is directly from her blog (any grammatical, spelling, or punctuation errors are hers):

Okay you guys- here’s what I told whoever the hell it was down here down under ( Read more... )

I must say I find the idea of a geriatric Mr. and Mrs. Han Solo on the shopping planet rather amusing.

Ahahaha, I think we should start a petition! ;P

Anyway, you know I agree with you. Sighs, it's just so baffling to me, what an uproar this all caused when it was pretty much an established fact for years. Shrugs.

Carrie's drug use might be common knowledge, but you gotta remember an awful lot of younger SW fans don't know the extent of her drug use and the youngest of the bunch probably had no idea at all. This is the first time I've heard her confirm drug use on the job and well, I've known about her pharmaceutical adventures for 26 years.

It's not the first time I've heard about her drug use on the job. She admitted she did drugs on the set of "Under the Rainbow," saying that just about everyone was doing likewise, but her drug use was what was blamed for the movie going off-schedule and over-budget.

I agree that the youngest SW fans probably weren't aware of the extent of her drug use. Well, now they are.

I can't blame anyone for using drugs while shooting "Under The Rainbow." It was painful enough to watch it!

I'm glad she quickly made it clear Harrison and Mark had nothing to do with this. You're probably right that Lucas knew all along. Heck, I'm sure everybody knew all along but they had a movie to make and no one at the time would have dared a scandal. Too much was riding on the movie and Lucas was having enough issues as it was with financing. "Enabling" wasn't part of the vocabulary in 1979 and with drug use being so common at the time, one wouldn't necessarily tell the difference between an addict and a "recreational" user.

Yep. From what I've heard, a bigger problem than Carrie's drug use was the fact that her then-boyfriend Paul Simon insisted on calling and talking to her during what was, for her, the wee hours of the morning, thus causing her to lose sleep and be exhausted on the set the next day.

ESB had no shortage of other problems as well, among them that the PT-haters' idol, Gary Kurtz, was so inept in his role as producer that the movie was nearly shut down due to budget overages.

I got my copy of "The Making Of The Empire Strikes Back" yesterday. It looks like they don't hold back on the dirt but I'll have to read it in detail.

I *swear* I read an article where Carrie admitted to smoking pot on set during the filming of ROTJ, but for the life of me I cannot remember where. I'm not recalling any uproar over that. Then again many people (myself included) don't consider pot on the same level of drug use as coke.

Really, there are people that don't know the extent of Carrie's drug use? She's said many times she took any and every drug available in the 70s and 80s. Even a Wikipedia search would cough up that information.
