Diana and Charles were kinda doomed from the start if the stories about their arrangement are true. Camilla's been his true love for a very long time, and, well, shit happens. It's a shame it had to happen in the public spectacle, but the dissolution of a marriage is never a fun thing to watch.

Yep. Supposedly Camilla was discarded as "unsuitable" because she'd had relationships (i.e., sex) with men other than Charles, and he "had" to marry a virgin. The standards weren't nearly so strict for Andrew's bride (though of course Andrew was not the heir apparent). Not that it made his marriage turn out any happier, but whatever.

Fast-forward to 2011, where no one, not even the Queen, has so much as batted an eye over the fact that Will and Kate have been living together for quite some time and Kate is clearly no virgin. Meanwhile Charles finally got to marry his true love, and Diana...well, had she lived, she'd undoubtedly have found happiness with some international financier.
