Elliptical Strokes Tutorial.

Jul 20, 2007 12:16

The world's easiest tutorial.

Hi, I've been seeing a lot of icons lately that use this kind of texture, and it's really the easiest thing ever to do.

FOR PSCS2

Let me show you:

Step 1: MAKE A NEW LAYER, TRANSPARENT!!!

Step 2: Take the eliptical marquee tool (M) and press SHIFT to keep it perfectly round and draw a circle selection.
Step 3: Right Click> Stroke

Step 4: Width 1px, and choose the color you want.

Step 5: Deselect,(CTRL+D) or Right click Deselect.
Step 6: Is up to you, You can copy that layer and paste it a few times and move the circles around so that you get the effect wanted. You can always redo the marquee tool stroke to get more than one size.

In the example, I used a black background to show what it looks like. BUT LEAVE IT TRANSPARENT. It's easier to work with, trust me.

Step 7: Save your image as a .PNG file and use it on an icon of your choice.

To paste it on an image: from the .psd CTRL+A (select All) and CTRL+SHIFT+C (copy all layers) and paste it on the icon that you want. Move it around.

Feel free to steal these if you don't have photoshop :/
