Call for Art & Science Exhibition Proposals - ISMB/ECCB 2013
Scientists and artists are invited to submit images and videos that illustrate research projects, scientific principles and draw a link between art and science.

Images and videos will automatically enter an online contest for a $200 (USD) award.

This year the International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) and European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB) take place in Berlin. ISMB/ECCB 2013 will bring together scientists from a wide range of disciplines, including biology, medicine, computer science, mathematics and statistics. In these fields we are constantly dealing with information in visual form: from microscope images and photographs of gels to scatter plots, network graphs and phylogenetic trees, structural formulae and protein models to flow diagrams, visual aids for problem-solving are omnipresent. Some of the works of the annual exhibitions at the conference combine outstanding beauty and aesthetics with deep insight that perfectly proves the validity of our approach or goes beyond the problem’s solution. Others were surprising and inspiring through the transition from science to art, opening our eyes and minds to reflect on the work that we are undertaking.

For the ISMB/ECCB 2013 Art & Science Exhibition the organizers invite scientists and artists to submit images and videos that illustrate scientific principles and observations and draw a link between art and science. All interested conference attendees are encouraged to submit images and videos that have been generated as part of a research project. Images and videos resulting from creative efforts that involve scientific concepts or employ scientific tools and methods are appreciated. All cover images produced by researchers for scientific journals are welcome as well.
