Oh, argh -- I totally hear you. We made an arrangement with our officant a year in advance, then didn't hear anything from her for ages, finally pinged her with some ideas for the ceremony... and discovered that she'd gone and planned something else for that day that was bigger and couldn't be rescheduled. So we had to scramble to find someone else five months before the day.
We also had the opposite problem. Our contact at our reception site was overly communicative. So much so that she tracked me down by phone at the salon where I and my maid of honour were getting our hair done at eight in the morning, having a nice relaxed time, to tell me that there was absolutely nothing to worry about and that she had everything under control. Which (a) annoyed me, because hello, stalking much? and (b) I *wasn't* worried to begin with, but her assurances had the opposite effect and made me wonder what might be going wrong that she'd feel the need to tell me not to worry.
