Reusable Grocery Bags contain high levels of lead

via jawbone at corrente

I actually still use plastic bags since I use that for kitchen trash, but we have a couple of reusable insulated ones for cold food.

We have 5 reusable grocery bags we use over and over. Hopefully the lead is not rubbing off on stuff (and most of it is packaged, anyway). This seems so pointless (the lead in the bags, I mean)

I think the Tampa Tribune is the paper that first tested the bags and they say the form of lead is not one that easily leaches out .. unless the bag is painted and the paint starts flaking off.
It is not good to throw it in the trash though as that will contaminate the landfills.

I am tempted to just conclude that cheap stuff from China should be considered toxic until proven otherwise.
