Yeah...my growing-up movies were Bollywood...and Chinese Opera...didn't get to see Disney movies until I took my kids!
The dancing is incredible...and getting our heads out of standard western rhythms (I think) is really good for us. My preshuss and I have one we (try to) do daily, with just the upper body, so even on a crappy day that she can't get out of bed, some muscles get moved and worked...and the brain works to remember and co-ordinate.
Have you seen Paheli? That was another great escape on hard physical days. Great love story...and, as I get older I tire of the same ol', same ol' tongue-divin' and headboard bangin' of Hollyweird...give me a little sensual subtle allusion...and I'll take it great place all by myself.
I love to dance as part of my musical performance...and I find that, as my body becomes a little less, shall we (kindly) say, lithe...graceful hand movements are helping me express movement within the music.
I'm not sure I've seen Paheli. I just love the rhythm of the music.. it makes my whole body move, like something deep within where I can't help but move. It's all soooo graceful and the stories that go with the bollywood movies are romantic, although there is always a disaster in it, lovers being parted etc.. and you know it's coming, but I do love it
