Wow. It's been a while. I've completely lost the habit of writing a blog. Of course I still run through potential posts in my head but they're generally rants about mad Japanese things and I don't want to write purely negative things on here

Japanese politics have a reputation for being pork barrel politics, so a candidate's success depends on the amount of government funding, projects and so-on for their constituency. If the main form of campaigning seems to be driving around shouting blaring out propaganda it may reflect the fact the former is the key factor and it's not been necessary to develop anything more sophisticated for campaigns.
