I've never been good at sticking with things. I'm not very good with learning curves. I want to be really good at something straight away, or I give up. I've never had the patience to stick with anything once it requires hard work or practice and I can't see the improvement, or the improvement isn't fast enough for me ( Read more... )

I think, for me, the team aspect is really motivating too. The gym...well, if I don't go, it's only me that notices. But if I miss practices the other girls are in touch, reminding me how much I love skating!
I am nowhere near scrimmaging yet though :(

We've enough girls to do one newbie scrimmage in every 3, so I am lucky to be able to practice scrimmaging without any of the really amazing girls gunning for me. It helps to build up your confidence in game play without spending the whole time going SHITSHITFUCKSHITWHATSHAPPENINGWHATAMIDOINGFUCKARRGHHELP.

We were quite the team on Saturday. I'm going to wear pink to practice from now on so we can be on the same team again.

We were AWESOME.

But if we're not careful, they won't let us be in newbie scrimmages any more, and then we'll be crap again.

The old fastest in the bottom group, slowest in the middle group conundrum...

I think we are safe in the newbie group until the bout. The girls on the teams need to practice in proper scrimmages more than us.

Good point! We don't want to be taking up valuable practice time and space for the team members :D

It's one thing being AWESOME in a newbie scrimmage though, and another being a real threat in a 'proper' one. That's my aim, for after this bout, to actually hold my own in a harder scrimmage. And not give up or quit!!

p.s. I am craving cupcakes...

it's very cool to hear you talking about this - I kind of think you're crazy, but the important part is the challenging yourself and the having fun, and all the awesome that's going on with it.
