The plan, as far as Dean can tell, is to pile raw meat on one side of the car, and then stand between the other side of the car and a windowless warehouse to shoot the velociraptors as they come to investigate. Sam says it will work, so Dean tries not to think about long curved claws scoring his paint job ( ... )

THIS IS SO RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME I DON'T EVEN!!!

Badass Cas vs. the velociraptors! Dean knowing all about dinosaurs and having to explain to Sam! The little triceratops chomping on Dean's shirt and snuffling into Cas' shoulder!!! CUTEST THING EVER!!!

I love this and I never thought it was gonna end so adorable. <3 <3 <3 *is dead*

lol, I had NO IDEA where I was going with this when I started; I just had this image of Cas being all "bring it, bitches" with a pack of velociraptors. And then the rest happened. And there were baby dinosaurs.

*scratches head*

Wonderfull!!BAMF!Cas and dinosaurs :) I wonder why Sam doesn't know what an Alosaurus is but Dean takes a look at the slimy blob and knows it's a Triceratops (and 'herbivore'? Seriously, Dean?!) - looks like Dean 's a geek in disguise ;D
I can't even say how much I love this story and every small detail in it :)

One of the (many, many) things I love about Dean is his ultra-selective intensive knowledge. I mean, he canonically reads Vonnegut, he can restore a car basically from scratch, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of classic rock.... So I see him as one of those kids who latched on to certain things and took the time to really learn them well. In this case, dinosaurs. Thank you!

It's always struck me as funny how velociraptors, which are this sort of American cultural shorthand for "scary things that run in packs" were actually pretty small and covered in feathers.

I mean, they were still scary. And they may have run in packs (it's up in the air.) But really, they look sort of like...well, chickens.

I am sort of in love with Dean the dinosaur nerd. It just happened as I was writing this, and I kind of ran with it.

Glad you liked it, especially since it was your prompt in the first place that set off the velociraptor massacre. (I mean, who could resist. Cas fighting a dinosaur. Come ON.)

This is TEH AWESOMEZ. I especially love that Dean protects the baby from Sam. (OMG BEBE TRICERATOPS.) And continues to be protective of it. D'awwww, Dean the dino nerd. He totally has it in him. ♥

Doesn't he just? He so wanted a pet triceratops (like that kid in The Enormous Egg, one of the best books of all time, seriously.)

Also, I may or may not have just really really really wanted an excuse to use the line, "That's an herbivore, asshole." *shifty eyes*

Haha, Dean knowing so much about dinosaurs is hilarious. Now I have images of, once the apocalypse is over, Dean begging Still-angel!Castiel to take him back to the dinosaurs times and just geeking around over it xD
