his purpose first unfolded (Cas, Sam, Dean; Gen, G) 1/1gabby_silangMarch 29 2010, 05:40:35 UTC
Deeply loose interpretation of prompt devolving into idek what. ENJOY.
-----------------------------------------
It's a drop. You'll explain to the Winchesters later that it's like hitting a pocket of turbulence, or being brought up short and tripping on a leap year. The worst part of sleeping is the waking up.
You wake to a light and a terror.
When Sam asked you once about your childhood, you said, "I am not a child," and it made him laugh. You considered, and adjusted the translation. "I was never a child."
But in the light you are cast so small. There is no whenfeel or wherefeel and you wake bent and huddled, wrapping limb over limb over limb. You are a forest shielding your eyes from a fire.
Sam is there, tucked among your body. His questioning is ceaseless.
"Okay, but pander to the linear mortal crowd for a second. There must have been a time when you were, you know. New?"
He is trying to pry apart your fingers and peek at the light. Cower, you tell him. Don't you know well enough to cower? But he prattles on in

OH MAN I LOVE THIS ASKJDLA.
Castiel's dream is so...so Castiel. So freaky and uncomfortable and digging way down to the heart and oh Cas, oh baby, how difficult it must be. And the boys gathering him. They found him, oh. I hope they always do.

YOU KNOW WHAT I LOVE? THIS ENTIRE PARTY. THANK YOU FOR THE PARTY OMG.
Also thank you! He is their freakishly large, omni-limbed, thousand-eyed, razor-toothed baby bird, fallen from its nest. But his nest sucked anyway, so pffft.

Okay, so FUNNY BUT TRUE STORY: I read this prompt and thought, oh, what if Castiel thought that he 'woke up' but actually was dreaming? AND THEN YOU WROTE IT AND SO AWESOMELY. I love how disjointed the dream is, and that he dreams about Sam but Sam isn't acting like himself, and how it ends with Dean shaking him by the lapels and saying they 'found' him and oh, yes. Beautiful. =D

Oh jesus, and isn't that a question the Winchesters ask themselves every damn day, huh?
You’re screaming, Do not look. Close your eyes. Kneel. Cower.
I love, love, love all the awful things Cas misses about himself. AUGH.

I am pleased that you enjoy this. Sam was getting all up in his limbs, right? Little mud monkey swinging around Cas' treeself.
