Who: The SDM What: Regrouping after the Cream of the Crop event When: Backdated to... sometime soon after the event...? Where: Patchouli and Meiling's House Warnings: Drama? Confusion? Shenanigans?
[ Meiling extended the invitation for many reasons: convenience, respect, guilt. Her behavior could be excused, perhaps, but the following radio silence? That was all her doing.
While everyone is gathering, she busies herself in the kitchen, preparing especially bitter tea for herself, and trying her hand at cookies. They're actually not bad, if one likes walnuts with their chocolate chips.
But of course she doesn't have to sit there in front of the stove and actually watch them bake. No, she does that because she is making herself as scarce as possible at the moment. ]
Right...I imagine it would be hard to focus like that. I'll admit it was a bit scary being on the wrong end of it. I'm not mad, though. Like I said, you did what you had to. I can't fault you for that.
I... can't promise you won't see that again. [ Meiling reaches up to that hand on her shoulder, and there's a faint tingling traveling across from her hand to Sakuya's as she channels her energies. ] But now that I've gotten more of my power back, I can keep a better lid on it, even if my emotions get out of control again. [ Which she hopes she never sees again. ]
...and no, you can't blame me, because you would've done the same, right?
I didn't expect a promise. [Sakuya feels that faint tingling, a surprisingly warm feeling.] I know. I may yell at you at home, I may lose my temper, but...in a place like this, those little things don't seem to matter so much. Not when the town does such big and horrible things.
[A pause and a deep breath.]
I would have stopped you, yes - not killed you, but incapacitated you.
Walnuts! [ Meiling rises from her crouch, grabs hold of the oven handle and opens the door a bit. ] Hmm... do they look done? I forgot how you're supposed to check.
Mm, okay! [ Oven mitts? What are those? Meiling steels herself, pulls the door all the way and reaches in, takes hold of the tray and swiftly yanks it free to drop on top of the stove. ] Whew! [ She shakes her hands a moment. ]
Meiling, you can't just take something out of the oven without covering your hands! You idiot, go run some cold water over them, I'll take care of these.
Well, no matter. There was a Meiling here, and that's what mattered. The little vampire goes toddling over to the gateguard's side only a bit unsteadily.]
[ And she's just going to reach out with an arm and tug Flandre in close. Which of them needs that hug more is up for debate. ] They won't be long, now. [ She means the cookies. ]
...LJ why did you do that B|there_were_noneAugust 28 2011, 03:49:37 UTC
[Flandre blinks--after a much-longer-than-usual-pause--and looks up at Meiling a bit without sacrificing much of this comfortable spot.
She makes a perplexed-sounding noise, somewhere between a whistle through the nose and a little mumble. It was probably supposed to be a word--or words--but, regardless, she hasn't noticed the oven or the cookies or much else besides Meiling being In Here rather than Over There.]

Mmm, these smell good...chocolate chip, and - is that pecan or walnut?

You want them to have risen a little in the center, but not be burnt around the edges. They're ready to come out and be put on a plate right now.
[Oven mitts, oven mitts, where are those...]

...isn't Remi here already, though?
[She seems...rather confused on what the subject is.]
