[Trapped on the Ferris wheel? Don't worry, Slugger is here to help.

Which is to mean he's here to hassle the stranded relentlessly. From the ground he might whack your cart with his bat as it goes by. Or, if stationed at the top, the cart may shake and rock as if possessed. The cause? A grinning delinquent who has somehow appeared either within, or perched somewhere nearby, your cart.]

[Mindy has only just figured out that she's stuck. And she's at a loss what to do about it. And then the car starts shaking. Such an unexpected surprise can only be greeted by a frightened squeal and fresh tears.]

Waaaaahhh!

[Ah, what a delightful sound. The wheel has stopped momentarily to allow other passengers on. It also allows Slugger a temporary perch to sit on along one of the steel beams making up the wheel. This happens to be just beneath Mindy's cart and a prime location from which he can get the cart swinging by nudging it with his bat.

Upon hearing that first squeal, he grins and climbs up onto the side of the cart where he peers inside to find...

...oh. It's Pokey's tiny friend. Crap. Slugger's grin transforms into an uncertain frown.]

Um... Mindy?

[Sniffle. Oh, it's not a monster that eats Ferris Wheels at all. It's Pokey's friend.]

I wa- wanted to ride the Ferris Wheel. B- but I can't get out. And now it's shaking and I don't wanna faaaaalll!

[Crying more now.]

[strike_you_out]

[Crying little girls make him horribly uneasy but as the ferris wheel begins to rotate again, Slugger steps hesitantly into the cart and sits.]

Can't get out?

[friendly_ghosts]

It won't stop! And... I'm scared.

[The second he is close enough, she's latching onto him for security.]

[strike_you_out]

[Oh shitshitshit, she's clinging to him! A moment passes in which Slugger very nearly panics but manages to stay put. A part of him wants to flee and yet another part wants to clobber her over the head. However, guilt prevents him from doing either one. If Pokey ever found out-- ...well, he doesn't know what would happen but for whatever reason, he doesn't want to find out.

For now he allows her to cling while the wheel revolves. She's right about one thing---it doesn't seem to be stopping to let anyone off. Of course, in Mayfield, this makes perfect sense.]

You might have to jump.

But... we're so high up...

[Trembling, and still holding on tightly.]

[strike_you_out]

[Slugger peers over the side of the cart. It's pretty high, even at the lowest point of the wheel, but it seems to be the only option.]

...I'll jump with you.

[He starts to stand, wondering how he's going to do this.]

[friendly_ghosts]

[She's shaking, but slowly stands up alongside him.]

Are w-we gonna be o-okay?

[strike_you_out]

Yeah. Probably.

[Well, Slugger knows he would easily make it. But he's pretty sure she would break something and die if she jumped on her own. Which is precisely why he's taking in a deep breath right now and stooping down beside her as if to lift her up.]

Just... hold on tight.

[friendly_ghosts]

[She nods, blinking back tears and trying to be brave. She's too scared to look though, so she's burying her face in his shoulder even as she's clinging as tight as possible.]

[strike_you_out]

[Hoping no one is around to witness this, Slugger picks her up in one arm and climbs over one of the seats. Here he waits for a point in the wheel's revolution when it's lowering the basket closer to the ground, then leaps out.

There's a loud rush of wind in his ears for that brief moment during the drop, but luckily it's pretty short. Once his feet hit the ground, he crouches to set Mindy down.]

[friendly_ghosts]

[She makes a scared whimpering sound when they jump, and when her feet finally touch the ground, it is a few seconds before she dares to open her eyes again.]

W-we're... okay?

[Yeah it looks like they are. So have a grateful hug.]

You saved me! Thank you so much~

[Being hugged by a little girl is truly the stuff of nightmares. Slugger grimaces uncomfortably over Mindy's shoulder.]

Ah-- yeah. Sure.

[He straightens, adjusting his cap, and tries to appear completely unfazed by any of this.]

Stay off the rides.
