Dear Santa,

I haven't believed in you since I was a little girl. To be honest, I'm not really sure why I'm writing to you now. I'm twenty-five years old now and a believer in science, not magic. A man who travels the world in a single night while flying through the air on a sled pulled by eight or nine reindeer just isn't scientifically possible.

But I suppose there's no harm in pretending you're real for a little while. I've seen stranger things since I've come to Mayfield. Maybe you exist here, somehow.

I want to go home. Since that's probably not possible, at least give me something so I can remember my family during the holidays. A photo, maybe one of all of us, back when I was little. I miss them--all of them ( ... )

When Ema wakes up in the morning, she'll see a bag of snackoos and a photo of her family under the tree, with a small note attached to it.

Dear Ema,

You've been a very good girl, and you'll get everything you've been wishing for. But you need to believe in Christmas magic for it to work!

Close your eyes and try to believe as hard as you can. Everything you wished for will come true if you can only believe hard enough.

Merry Christmas,

Santa Claus

If Ema closes her eyes, she'll get glimpses of all the things she wished for. She'll be able to picture everyone in Mayfield returning home, safe and happy. She'll see herself, back home, spending a cozy holiday with Klavier, her friends back home, her sister, and the friends she's made here. She'll picture herself, with a new science lab, made a full forensic scientist and solving mysteries. She'll even be able to picture herself, her sister, and her parents, together and happy.

It will feel very real, as though she can reach out and touch it, but it will all disappear again.
