[peddling out here has been quite the exercise, but Red isn't about to stop now. far from it. the fact that he's encountered no resistance so far as only made him more resolute to continue ahead. there's nowhere else to go but forward, after all.
Pikachu pokes its head out from the open flaps of his backpack, enjoying the ride. it murmurs a soft pi? when they come to a stop in front of the sign, where the countryside that stretches out before it grows murky and strange, like the hazy lines you see in the air when it's really humid outside. Red, of course, remains silent in his contemplations.
if he listens closely, he can hear something that sounds like the staticy reception of a bad television. he remains parked, holding his breath as he tries to catch the sound again.]
[Zorua decided that he would trail Red because he was getting bored not doing anything. When he finally gets to the road, he notices something isn't right about it. He too had noticed the static, and he looks rather confused by it.]
[Pikachu is the first to notice the other Pokemon. it squeaks out a pi, pika! and climbs out of the backpack, hopping out to get a better look at Zorua. Red, meanwhile, can only turn around to look at the thing with a curious blend of wonder and confusion on his face.
Pikachu takes a few cautious steps forward, sniffing the air around Zorua. like its trainer, the little mouse has been cooped up in the back of the house for so long that this is the first time it has seen another Pokemon since Dawn's Piplup. and such a weird one, at that.]
[which is just its way of replying in affirmation, although with a great deal of confusion. seeing that Pikachu has a better shot of communicating with it than he does, Red just stands back and lets his Pokemon do all the talking.]
Pi, pika pi.
["There's another Pikachu like me here owned by a kid named Ash. Are you friends?"]
["Yeah? I thought you smelled familiar... Huh! Well, you'll like it here with us. As soon as Red gets them back, you'll have lots of other Pokemon to keep you company!"]
[and wouldn't you know it, hearing another Pokemon is like music to his ears. Pikachu's, too. the electric mouse notices the pair before Red does and it cranes its little head in their direction.]
"Pika?"
[Red follows his Pokemon's gaze, all tenseness evaporating once he sees who it is.]
[Lyra does the same, and sighs in relief. Good, it's another Pokemon Trainer. She doesn't have to worry about running into whatever Grady's called in now.]
Hey to you, too.
[She smiles at him, just to assure him that she's on his side. Of course there's no doubt about that.]
You sound familiar. [getting off his bike and walking it towards her, he tilts his head.] Think we talked on the phone once before...
[the new Champion from Johto. of course he recognizes her; he makes it a habit to commit people to memory, even if it's just by the sound of their voice alone. and Lyra definitely deserves that special attention.]

Then she hears static. It's just like Rin said, and now she and Corsola's put their guards up.
It's not long before she notices Red. Or rather, Corsola notices Red.]
Corso?
