Wicked Witch of the...cruelmiracleMarch 20 2011, 09:11:00 UTC
[Bernkastel has chosen this place for now, and is currently parked in the sky where she can watch anyone passing by in cars or on foot. Does she think this service will get her sent home? No, never trust anything like that when it's not in red.
But boredom is the poison that kills witches, and she'd just hate to die.
She isn't bothering in sparing lives, though she may play around a bit. She'll be happy to teleport right into passing cars, as well.]
[Sasaki is walking by calmly on foot. Her driving experience with her assigned family was -- not particularly pleasant, and they didn't really get to investigate the way she'd wanted to. Grady's threat, she figured, would be more likely to induce people to come even than its mere presence, and she would probably be able to get by as a lone figure on foot.]
[One girl all by herself? Such a classic target. She disappears from the sky as if she'd never been there at all, and reappears before the girl, standing calmly, filling the space as if this had been where she'd been standing the entire time.
She has a cat's tail, and the tip twitches slightly.]
[One instinctive gasp escapes Sasaki. She quickly reevaluates the situation. Unexpected powers are no surprise at this point. The surprise is that this person does not appear to be a typical authority figure.
She elects to give a slight smile and behave politely.]
I didn't have such a great experience last time I brought a car.
[Sasaki sees no margin in trying to make a run for it when this person can evidently teleport, go invisible, or something of the sort. She simply goes on calmly]
Really, we're presented with quite a list of things we're expected to do by the authorities of the town. Most of them we don't heed, such as dressing in the style of the era of the town. As you yourself are not attired in that way. I don't see any particular reason why this prohibition should be respected, particularly as it's known that there's no compelling reason not to go here. It isn't as though there is an exit.
It isn't fitting for a piece to disobey the rules of the game board, you understand?
[Her giggle isn't at all pleasant. A car that's shown up near Sasaki's leg decides to take a bite out of it. Its teeth are far too sharp, and able to cut far too cleanly, for an ordinary cat.]
This seems to be an ad hoc extension of the board, and ad hoc rules can be generally overruled by a--
[And then the cat bites her. Sasaki is not a girl who has ever been injured in this way before, and she stares stupidly at the injury -- with the thought a clean slice, sharp knives barely hurt at first running through her mind -- before it starts to ache and throb and she lets out an involuntary cry.]
[Oh, yes, it will be fun to watch this girl get eaten by her cats. There seem to be at least a hundred, all of the sudden. The closest cat takes another bite.]
[Everything does indeed have to eat. But why consume human flesh, especially that of a stringy little girl's? A good third of the cats closest to Sasaki suddenly seem to hesitate . . . then, inexplicably, leap upon their neighbors and chow down eagerly.
Bernkastel is not the only one who can occupy spaces she didn't previously seem to. Yuki stands before Sasaki in a blink of a eye, a single arm outstretched to make her meaning clear. 'Do not touch.' There is a shade of . . . vagueness, some aspect of boredom on her expression that isn't normally there.
She doesn't bother with words yet. At least, none that either of the two would understand. Her mouth moves far too quickly and the sounds that emit are far too garbled to follow.]

[The second bite, Sasaki notices distantly, does not seem to hurt as much, though again there's that strange suspended feeling of a sensation that she hadn't known possible, one of a separation that was not meant to be between two parts of her flesh. It bothers her in the way that a cold sore's mere presence bothers one, draws one's attention to it, because the body, that artifact so familiar to us that we don't even notice it, is suddenly altered.
After which the pain comes back again, the leaking organic substances that she distantly recognizes must be leaking out, though her eyes are squeezed shut in pain and another shriek which she doesn't recognize as her own until it travels to her ears emerges.
At this point, she recognizes that there's someone in front of her. Forcing her eyes open, automatically wiping them off, she squints into the suddenly-bright-seeming sky--blood loss? surely not, they didn't hit an artery, she doesn't think. Shock, then--and sees someone who looks like...]
I'm sorry, this post got lost in the notif issues :ccruelmiracleMarch 25 2011, 10:11:07 UTC
[Bernkastel frowns, sensing the usurping of her cats and dismissing them back where they came from rather than allow herself the indignity of being bitten by the creatures.]
You shouldn't interrupt other peoples' games.
[It might be considered a hypocritical statement if she hadn't considered any game she played in to become hers as soon as she decided to use it. She vanishes from her position and appears high in the air, blasting magical energy directly at this newcomer.]
[She's never been fond of being ignored. The brute force method, then. Countless beams of energy shoot forth--maybe she'll dazzle that girl she was playing with before a bit, too.]
((My apologies, I had to go on unofficial hiatus the last few days due to RL being overwhelming and other assorted factors. Would you still like to continue, or would you rather simply handwave the thread?))

Why return, once you've been told not to?
[There's a black cat off to the side, sitting calmly. Maybe it's been there?]

Yes...
[Bent over, in a strange hunched position, somehow, she feels extremely isolated among the magic, and approaches Nagato's side.]
