I have never seen Eset slow down or choke up my system processes -- and I'm running a 7 year old machine, mind, so even iTunes can make it choke, -- and I've had Eset catch stuff that gets through my browser engines and e mail scrubbers, and firewall altogether. It was DEFINITELY worth the money.

It's an online virus and spyware scan, so should hopefully get rid of everything that your installed anti-virus isn't picking up.
There's also Spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html for spyware and Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/ for malware.
Hope that you get it fixed soon!

The trojan ended up in system restore files, and during a scan a few days later, AVG found it there and cleaned it from the system restore file too.
Plus it's free.
And I always scan once a week with Malewarebytes (free version).
