I do still read here, and am trying to post more often now (though I make no promises).
I understand tight budgets - the year we bought the house, that really was our Christmas present. Moving in during December helped that feeling.
Personally, I'm always a bit mixed when it comes to Christmas. I usually work Christmas Day, and so haven't bothered with decorations for years now - when I lived on my own, it just made no sense, and with two cats and a dog, a tree would have to be anchored to the wall. We go to my sister's on or about Boxing Day, and there's usually something at my aunt's... but it just hasn't been the same since my grandmother passed, even though that was over a decade ago. I just don't seem to have managed to forge new traditions. On the other hand, I have two small nephews, and love watching them open presents!
We haven't bought a tree yet, I'm not sure if we will.
Justin's not big on christmas but he tolerates it for me. I usually go to my mom's and we do presents and lunch there. It's an excuse for everyone to be in one place.
