Election blather

I was looking over the results from last night, and one things jumps out: in just about every state, more people voted in the Democrat than in the Republican primary -- even the ones D's don't have any expectation of winning in November. In all likelihood, yes. It's not really a surprise: at this point, the Republicans are mainly hoping to hold onto the White House by the skin of their teeth at best, and not lose *too* much ground in Congress.

The Democrats could yet blow it -- one should never underestimate the Democratic Party's skill at self-destruction -- but the race is basically theirs to lose at this point. The country is broadly fed up with the Republicans, and willing to give the Democrats a chance to prove themselves. Karl Rove's legacy is finally coming home to roost...
