More kid language

The little one, holding an unfamiliar object, looked at us and asked "What's my having?" (ie, what do I have?). And then later, he had an unfastened bead necklace he was playing with. When fairdice asked "Should I close it for you?" A. replied "Stay it open."

Language acquisition is cool.

it's like they're little immigrants from an Old Country that doesn't exist.

What a wonderful way to describe it! Have you read (looked at? it doesn't have any words) "The Arrival"? It's a stunning graphic novel about immegrating to a country that doesn't exist, which is why I made the connection

I'll have to read the article; I'm afraid I'm a couple of issues behind. A's muddling his way through the past tense; we got "sawded" (the past of see) the other day.
