Winter tomatoes

Gourmet magazine has an article up about the slave labor conditions in winter tomato growing camps in FLorida -- which is, apparently, where the overwhelming majority (90%?) of US-grown winter tomatoes come from. It's pretty horrible. If you do want tomatoes in winter:

Having not read the article, do they say anything about the sources for canned tomatoes? In the winter, I only tend to use canned, anyway.

No, canned tomatoes pretty much all come from California, not FLorida. Like you, I tend to use canned all winter.
