More 2405FPW

I've been so spoiled by the Dell 2405FPW on my desk at work that I just ordered one for home (about $780 before tax thanks to a 35% deal that expires today). Now I have to decide whether to sell my 2001FP (20.1" 1600x1200 LCD) or buy a PCMCIA video card so I can connect both to the Powerbook simultaneously ( Read more... )

Have you actually found a PCMCIA video card that allows "two external" monitors connected to a laptop (Powerbook, or other, e.g. Thinkpad)? I haven't. I've heard rumors, basically.

I got a VillageTronic VTBook card, which has Mac drivers (and Windows drivers). There are two particular problems with this card. First, since it's not AGP (no PCMCIA card can be), Quartz isn't accelerated on that screen and Expose isn't accelerated on any screen. Second, the drivers seem to be a bit flaky, so my Powerbook is more likely to hang while going to sleep or waking up. I've stopped using the card for now.
