Is that the kind of world we want our children to live in? It sounds like one of those alternative universes in children’s novels where the kids all come out at 4 p.m., bounce a red ball in unison, and turn around and head back indoors at 4:05.

And I’m not even getting started on the whole childhood obesity issue, which is, by the way, the No. 1 health problem for our nation’s children. So let’s ban a game where they run around and get exercise. Perfect. They won’t fall down, but they’ll develop diabetes or keel over from heart attacks in their teens. That’s better.
You are so wise. Did you know that some kids enter first or second grade (OR OLDER) with so little physical activity that they're not developmentally able to cross their center (i.e. touch their right hand to their left foot or skip, thus making them uncoordinated and lead to naughty behavior because they feel awkward and clumsy?) because they haven't PLAYED ( ... )

I love you, Tara May (Tesimu). I wish you'd write a "Mommy" book. :)

Consequently, you might not guess it by my mannerisms, but I'm going to be the mom that rolls her kid up in bubble wrap before she lets them go ANYWHERE. I wish I could be a "let my child be independent" mommy, but in reality, I'm going to be a basketcase.

I miss you. :)
