rant time! if you dont wanna read it dont. im a hippy disclamer, etc.

topic? "send michael vick to jail" video on facebook. also on youtube, here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZhxr2Urvck

and other hippyisms

if youre too lazy to watch its all about some moron football player who fights dogs and treats them worse than dirt and apparently kills them in ridiculously cruel ways when they dont fight well. (ive never read the entire story so dont peg that as 100% truth.) and the video focuses on a specific dog (gypsy) who i assume was left for dead in a bloody infected mess and got lots of vet care and got brought back to decent health minus one leg and plus lots of scars.

video features emo touching music (sounds like creed?) and pictures of a poor puppy dog thats bloody and falling apart and messed up.

now, i understand the love for the dog. im sympathetic and i feel bad for the dog. but what gets me is that people will donate money to support medical care for the dog because its a dog, and it was hurt. but then go to the supermarket and buy a feed of steaks and chicken. paying money supporting farmers murdering animals. animals are slaughtered every day and treated like shit and people get paid to do it. what draws the line between a cow and a dog? farm animals like pigs and chickens given the same circumstance as the dog will be just as intelligent. this is going on around people every day! and they endorse and support it and i completely dont understand. are people so uninformed they dont know theyre doing it? or are they doing it anyways and pretending like nothings wrong? or do they just not care? i just dont understand people. just because its cuter it deserves to live more? who are we to decide which animal lives and dies?

another beef i have is with religious misplaced thanks. and i try my damn hardest to be accepting of all beliefs and religions but some things just irk me. i'd never shove it in anyones face but lately ive had to hold it in esp working at a religious seniors home working for nuns. around thanksgiving and in prayers and whatever else, i overheard people thanking god for their food and abundance of nature and all of that. and acting as if no matter what they do there will always be food on the table because god will save them. seriously now, if that was true what happened to the cod around the shores of newfoundland?? tell me that. first when we came over to north america the cod were effing teeming. now if you so much as sneeze all the cod will die off. how is that not a wakeup call? i appreciate believing in things but know where thanks is due. if you kill everything it will not come back, with gods help or not. i appreciate religion but i really hope it doesnt lead to ignoring important issues. this is real life. we have real problems that need real solutions. and so far ive yet to see proof of god doing physical real life things, and im going to bet if he hung around and let people die for 2 world wars and katrina and tsunamis and the holocaust, im gunna bet once the environment starts going to shit theres not gunna be much help either. and to help put that idea through.. watch this. http://youtube.com/watch?v=zORv8wwiadQ

dear residents of planet earth:

for your own sake, your kids sake, and my sake. open your eyes. know your impact on the world around you. for now, for the future. before our generation dies its going to all go to shit. this is real and not imaginary. dont be a drone, dont live 9-5 monday to friday and be oblivious and ignorant. change your life, if even in small steps, and be considerate for the earth that has nurtured you and gives you everything you could ever ask for. if you only care about yourself, your later years are going to suck ass. so suck it up and do something.

no love,
erica
