Amazon part 4

Dec 20, 2008 02:32

this week. Now I'm not so sure! It also means that due to not going to my Mum's, I have some spare time on my hands! My Sunday shift is 07:30 - 18:00, so I can't do too much tomorrow night (but I can Sunday!). Is anyone going to be around?
Well, I do feel better after that rant! I'm now going to bed!

After your own comments defending the Amazon regime, I find it ironic that you're been fucked over by the exact report that was recently bought to the medias attention.

Nobody can force you to do unpaid or overtime. If your agency rep refuses to help, then you need to take it higher, or maybe go to the press yourself exposing Amazon for what they really are.

Oh but I wasn't defending any regime. I was just saying that a lot of what was being said wasn't happening. I'm certainly not on minimum wage and don't know anyone working there who is. I also don't have to ask permission to go to the loo, walk 14 plus miles a day (anyone can reject the long distance walking jobs. I said I didn't mind walking, but was put somewhere else), and the not speaking any language other than English in the warehouse rule is there for a reason. We are in England after all and it is very annoying being the only Brit in your section and everyone talking very loudly in foreign languages around you that you don't understand!). Like I have found out recently, Amazon can be unreasonable regarding certain matters, but to be honest, most problems I have experienced have been caused by my agency rather than Amazon.

Bloody hell, sound like right slave drivers. I second taking it higher. What agency are you with?

Hello!
Gosh that was complicated! :)
how long are you going to be working for Amazon? It does sound pretty unfair to make you all work on Boxing Day when everyone knows public transport is dodgy that day! :( I'll most likely be on my own on Xmas day too but i'm not too bothered. Debbie won't be home, there will be a family xmas meal going on at which my Dad will be present but I can't get there because of the transport problems! It's down in Mortlake!
Anyway hope you manage to have a nice time somehow!
