It does not surprise me in the least. These are the godniks, the GoodOldBoys, the cross-burners, the wife-beaters. The ones who teach their firstborn male that he is gold and teach the other kids they're shit. These are the status quo, the change-no-course until after the ice-berg. The "the only proof I'll believe is the results after the disaster we caused".
These are the jerks who cause ruckus for the sake of ruckus and diversion. These folks put the breaks on progress because it's unfamiliar - stagnation is far better.
A large number of these pugilists say things just for the shock effect, just to divert and misdirect any progress. These are the types who would "light a fire over there to keep you from fighting the fire over here".
There will be a crowd in hell, for those who believe in it, and they'll be these kinds of people and their supporters.
The rest of us are evolving humans, these are stalled apes.
