I have this weird thing with poetry. Unless I approach it a certain way, it's all complete jibberish, and I think it absolutely reeks. It only makes sense if I focus my mind solely on the words of the poem and let them reverberate throughout my head. Then images, sounds, smells, and feelings come alive in the words. It's weird that I have to

i hate coming back to writing when i haven't in a while. it's worse not writing (for me), but that feeling of needing to get out the crap before being able to get out anything meaningful sucks. hmm, and things are particularly crap when one is not sleeping to avoid thoughts, but i'm letting myself ramble...somehow the need to clear your throat with words before you can put down what you actually want to put down seems to connect, at this moment, to the way poems sometimes first appear, and the way they change when you look at them differently. and it's not weird to need to open yourself up in a different way, poetry gets rid of all these extraneous things that prose needs to make sense, and adds little bits that would be extraneous in prose, and it *doesn't* make sense if you try to read it the same way. also, i really need to be writing a lot more, and i need to not be doing it on a comment in your lj. so i bid you good night. and stop writing, now.
