Apr 12, 2008 02:56

After reading unfolded73's fantastically constructed review of Partners In Crime, I am finally inspired to write my review.  Putting pictures in your review post is a genius idea.  So I'm gonna borrow it.  I've desperately wanted to write a review, but didn't want to write something a bit redundant after all of the great reviews I have read.  So ( Read more... )

Great review!

The scene with Donna and her Gramps where she is telling him about how she's looking for the Doctor really shows a side of Donna we really hadn't seen before.

*nods* We caught a glimpse of it at the end of TRB in the snow, but now we can really start to see Donna's character.

In the Buffy Season 8 comments they actually mention, I think, that the girl in Rome was indeed a Buffy decoy and not Buffy herself. Which I thought was funny.

Not sure. I haven't kept up with Buffy after the tv show ended. If so, that's an interesting turn of events for her.

Great review and I really like Donna now and the fact that she does not want to shag the Doctor is all the better. And I feel that she is traveling with with Dr. for the right reasons. Not because she has a school girl crush on the doctor but because she really wants to see what is out there and understands that the world is vast. She would wait 100 years not because she is in love with the Dr but because of what he represented. That was great!
I also like the fact that she brought lots of cloths! A lot of the companions of old changed their cloths, this will be a nice change as well.
" ....you have a hat box?..." LMAO!

I think Donna will bring back some of the amazement and fun that the travels with the Doctor should be about. Monsters and baddies will show up, but the adventure of it all makes it worth the risks. Donna seems to get that really well.

You are spot on with the clothes comment. Martha wearing that same red leather jacket for what seemed like forever was a bit much. I can't remember exactly how many times she wore it, but I kept hoping she'd get the chance to change more often than she did. Even on the cover of the BBC novels, she's wearing the same jacket. At least with the ones with Rose, Rose's shirt color changed.

I completely agree with your thoughts on Donna, I liked her in RB, but I was annoyed when they announced she was gonna be a proper companion. PIC did REALLY completely won me over and now I really quite love her. After one episode. Fickle, much? Oh well.

It's on tonighttt!

No, not fickle at all. I was that way with Martha. Smith and Jones sealed the deal as her being a great companion for the Doctor and good character all around. If your good, you can make an impression that fast. I mean look at David Tennant in The Christmas Invasion. He was unconscious most of the episode, but was absolutely fantastic. He's been my favorite Doctor ever since.
