it's hard to leave the first time you have to go on travel for work, but it gets easier over time. absence really does make the heart grow fonder. I wouldn't want to have to go on travel constantly for work, but when I go on travel, it makes S and I appreciate each other more when I get back.
while India can still be considered a third-world country, you'll be staying in relatively decent accommodations. primitive compared to U.S. business travel hotels, but you shouldn't be too poorly off. don't worry about catching something horrible in a week; you should be fine.
But have kids one day ... it will be a whole different game for you. It's just that you don't want to miss something while your gone, or not be there for them is something happens.
As far as the hotels go, to get a decent room you need to find an available four star. Yeah, it isn't as expensive as the US, but I was always told that a three-star was just as good as Buffalo's Finest Crack Houses!
