Can't sleep and don't want to return to work tomorrow

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of Icon Squee!

I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer so much growing up. I'm a Whedonite through and through, and the answer to the question "Who actually talks this way?!" Never before (or since) had anything so encapsulated how my mind worked, from the way I think to the way I talk and the way I snark.

Everybody needs a screamfaced icon, and this image was particularly hilarious for me. So I screenshotted it and iconned away!

2.

Serial Experiments: Lain was another favourite show growing up, and the theme song always stuck with me. Especially the lines "I am falling / I am fading / I am drowning / Help me to breathe." It's total angstzilla, I know, but every girl needs a good icon for the less-than-happy posts.

I think I may have even made this one for an icon contest. The combination of the image (Lain reaching out her hand) and the song lyric fit, especially with the idea of her being so desperate that the words themselves are literally fading away--especially right on the word breathe.

It's nerd-love, and this little strip brought a smile to my face when I very much needed one. So, I iconned it for my own use. Short and sweet explanation on this one, really.

Hey, irasciblehermit. Remember this one? Show me someone who wasn't terrified of the backgrounds and music in the Silent Hill franchise and I'll show you someone I want holding my hand at night after I've played them and can't sleep because I'm too afraid. These fucking rabbits scared me half to death, and I'm not one to just NOT share my pain.

5.

The first animated icon I ever made. Simple, I know, but I thought it was effective. I'd hated the idea of a gay man as someone who couldn't ever be seen as a threat, but moreso I hated the idea of taking myself that seriously. So I found this really cute image of some guy in a factory packing a box full of fudge, and did a little bit of work to it. I thought it was a good attempt, and I still stand by it.

In other news, I've had a week and a half of vacation and now I need a damned break. I swear I haven't had time off in almost a month, because even when I'm not at work I'm doing eighteen thousand things all the time. I need a day to veg soon.
