There is a free Nook PC & Mac app available. No Nook required to read an electronic book. Would that be a solution? And if you don't want to move forward, electronically, don't do it. Take a stand. Be your own woman. Fight the good fight. We all have to pick our battles. Saying 'No" and standing ground almost always comes with a downside. Be strong! ;-)

You don't need an eReader to get a Nook Library.

B&N has Nook apps for nearly every platform, PC and mobile. Yeah, it'll set up a Nook Library for you, but that's no different than the eReader library you already have.
