I'm really not trying to split hairs... er, wait, maybe I am. At the least I am asking for clarification:
What defines 'bad thing' or 'vice' for you? I might guess based on your examples (pot, chocolate, alcohol, and fast food) that you mean things that you give you a mix of things you want and things you don't want, or perhaps a certain ratio of wanted vs. unwanted.
Either way, I do think it could be an interesting exercise.
I'd say that your assessment is accurate. Basically I'm trying to avoid a specific thing that I enjoy but that is probably not healthy for me, either physically or mentally.
Seriously now... I'm going to suggest maybe things cooked in oil (like fast food, but more), maybe no eating out, maybe not buying anything that isn't NEEDED for a month... maybe instead of not allowing, allowing for a month... how about saving 25% of everything you earn. Or maybe pampering yourself for a month. Or maybe learn something new everyday for a month!!
