Actually, It Really Is.

Even as a kid, as far back as elementary school, I remember noticing that each year seemed to pass a bit quicker than the last. Something I’m noticing as I continue to get older is that this sensation never really stops. It never hits a point where each year starts to pass exactly as quickly as the last. With that in mind, I can completely ( Read more... )

Yeah...it's like every time you turn around it's a different holiday.

I also remember things being a lot better than they used to (ranging from advertising and quality of manufactured goods to feelings and emotions.).

It'd be neat to build a time machine and regain the excitement of when things felt new. I want to capture, bottle and sell that feeling.

Heh... I've managed to widdle down the amount of holidays I celebrate with my family down to less than a handful. Sanjit and I don't really even do much special for our birthdays. I guess we just figure we're already doing the things we like doing on a day-to-day basis, so why mess that up by trying to make one day more special than the rest?

Maybe for perspective we should invent anti-holidays, where you live your life by 1950 standards for a day. You could work for a few hours in a dangerous steel mill, engage in some old-fashioned Rockwellian child abuse, and perhaps wrap the day off with a little just boys being boys date-rape. After that, maybe we'd come to appreciate the day-to-day life of being childless, urban deviants.

live your life by 1950 standards? Isn't that what republicans do every day?

I've stopped aging so the years can fly by at will :)
