Career Fair

Today I represented the Department at a UC Davis Environmental Sciences Career Fair. I'm at odds about these things. I'd rather do *design* work or scientific investigations, but I'm used more and more to either do project management (i.e. organizing people), graphic design, or public speaking / outreach ( Read more... )

*hugs* You should get out more! (Keep in mind that Death Guild is now at the DNA, btw.) Also, we're having a party on the 22nd. Let me know if my invite email got lost or something.

...if you haven't yet seen the new james bond remasters, do...i was blown away by what they did to doctor no, and as we work our way through the full series, i imagine all of the older films will be just as much a revelation...

...incidentally, i took mehve to a big mustang charity car show last month - they invite exotics to participate in a small specialty section - and surprisingly only saw one single classic cougar amongst what is one of the largest shows in the country...for that matter, i was surprised not to see any capris amongst the fox bodies, either, although admittedly the eighties-era representation was sparse compared to the first, second, and fifth generation models...

...so we were talking about the sixty-seven cougar and tracy di vicenzo's car, both, and i've been obligated to ask if you regret letting yours go in favor of the two thousand mustang, in retrospect now that you have a proper garage...

...i dreamt this morning that i stumbled upon a maroon cougar for $2400, cheap enough to be an impulse buy (at least in my dream) and reasonably well-kept for a fourty-year daily driver, albeit not concourse material...it was a big-nose '70 model with a light interior, and had the anemic 289 cubic inch engine along with very wallowy original suspension, but at that price i couldn't resist picking it up just for the occasional joyride...

...i've decided that my dream was telling me that i need to take mehve to this morning's cars-and-coffee (which i'd planned to skip) since i saw a blue 1970 convertible at last year's mustang show around this time of year - so now i'm awake early and will soon be out the door!..

I got a bit more for mine when I sold it back in Feb. 2007. Right now with the government furloughs I'm pretty short on case, and my house is on a pie-lot, with the skinny part out front ... so I can't really park a car in my side yard.

That said, a friend bought a house in Sacto and she has an awesome RV parking spot ... which is really a Cougar / Mustang spot.

If it helps, Nolan (now 3 years old) insists that my black Mustang will be his one day. The reality is once he is old enough to drive he probably *will* be the recipient of my older black mustangs. Though he also swears up and down that "Uncle Mike only drives black mustangs!". I need to find him pictures of me with the Cougar (which he knows Pappa has).
