Is the PS3 region free? Can I import one from NA and play any game on it?

If I could get it for 100 bucks less I'd do it but it's still expensive, maybe the cheap dollar can help :p Iunno, is there going to be a killzone 2 box for the ps3?

The PS3 software is indeed region free.
Other affiliated disc media (PSX, PS2, DVD, BD) are not.
You will be bound to standard region protection for the PS3's corresponding source for those other types of media.

eg. I can play my Asia region Initial D: Extreme Stage (PS3) on my US PS3, but I can't play any Beatmania IIDX (PS2) games on it.

Games yes, completely region free. Blu-rays, no. Don't take blu-rays for granted either, hi-def movies are fantastic 3;
