The German program is great, but you will definitely work for As in it. Dr. Esa, whom you've probably met since you've been doing German-American Day, is (I think) the only full-time professor in the dept. right now, as I've heard Dr. Upman retired. Esa is a great teacher, but he is very demanding.
Dorms are merely OK; apartments (particularly North Village) and the PA Avenue houses are where the real decent housing is. If something is broken wherever you're living, don't be afraid to throw your weight around with the RA or Residence Life to get it fixed.
Don't know about wrestling or environmental policy.
I have to say that if you genuinely do want to go to college to learn and not just for a degree, I think you'll enjoy McDaniel a lot. That is the same perspective that I look at college from and I often cannot sympathize with the complaints of others for that reason. Be careful about the dorms. Some of them are infested with bedbugs. I had to live with them for a year and no matter what, THEY DON"T DIE and they eat you alive. It's unpleasant. Seriously. If you wake up with red marks, MOVE IMMEDIATELY, don't let reslife tell you they'll take care of it.
ah ha! i don't know if it's the same but i'm like that with vacations or any extended trip away from home: i hate it at first and then it gets progressively better until i hate the thought of leaving.
Don't just want a degree?

Then you are going to the right school. I spent three and a half years there before "dropping out." Don't let that confuse you, the teaching staff, particularly Dr. Esa (I worked with him a lot) is excellent. If you want to be on a first naem basis with your Proffesors it is very easy...you simply have to talk to them. As far as knowledge for the sake of it, they'll love you for it. My only caution is that the general student body, atleast to me, did not feel the same. But even among the other students there are gems that will blow your mind away
