I wasn't an art student when I was at McD, but I do know a very talented friend of mine had some issues with getting into MFA programs after getting her degree there. I don't know if she watches this community, but you might drop _freyja_ a line if she doesn't comment on her own. She's friendly and I'm sure she wouldn't mind talking to you about the art program there.

Hello! I'm here... Hehe. Thanks for the rec, Aster!

The art dept at McDaniel is a mixed bag. If you're interested in more traditional areas (e.g., oil painting, lifedrawing, watercolor, art conservation), my advisor (Katya Mychajlyshyn) was a wonderful instructor. If you like more modern things (e.g., drawing found object/paper bag sort of stuff and tracing from big projectors), you could like him, but he's generally very polarizing when it comes to students. There's also Sue Bloom who covers computer graphics (I wasn't a CG person, but I had good experiences with her), and Linda Van Hart does some jewelry/design stuff (honestly I got nothing out of her classes ( ... )
