As frustrated as you are, there are some very good things to pull away from this. You realize what YOU want and what YOU need and what YOU can handle. So, although talking to him sucks and realizing that he's still a complete asshat, you've grown a ton since it all went down.

Be patient with yourself and don't be mad that you still have these intense feelings when he contacts you. It takes time.
