Doesn't look like you'll have time for anything other than radio today. :) I listened to part of "Sounds of the 60s", but that is likely to be all for today. My favourite radio programme at present is "Gloomsbury", which is on on Radio 4 on Fridays at 11:30am. (If "Gloomsbury" means nothing to you, then you can find out more on Wikipedia or - I assume - the BBC's own website.)
Haha! I always leave the wireless on in the background, regardless of what I'm doing - even if I've got sport running on the telly (like Wimbledon today). Having lived alone for the better part of thirteen years, it's been my most dependable and constant companion. Isn't Sounds of the 60s great? Brian Matthews was born to do radio. And thanks for the heads up about Gloomsbury! I had seen it on the iPlayer radio app while browsing through the list of comedies. Will give it a go and see if it tickles my fancy. I'm rather picky and tend to enjoy stuff like Cabin Pressure, Claire in the Community, The News Quiz and Dead Ringers. There were also two great new comedy series broadcast last year: Bad Salsa and Start/Stop.

He was. I can remember him from "Saturday Club" in the 1960s, which used to be on on Saturday mornings on the Light Programme. It would sometimes feature the Beatles playing live.

Sadly I've now discovered that Friday's episode was the last in the current series, but I imagine that at least the most recent one should still be up on iPlayer.

I don't listen to much radio other than music, but I know of all those by repute. Jon Culshaw is a genius.

Funny you should mention that. I heard Sounds of the 60s for the first time almost exactly four years ago in a black cab on the way to a wedding in central London. Because we were traveling from where I live, I was able to listen to quite a bit of it and I was hooked onto it immediately. Upon asking the cabbie if he knew what programme it was, it turned out that he was a big fan of Matthews and mentioned how he'd been listening to him since the 1960s. He also mentioned the bit about the live Beatles performances! John Pienaar on 5Live (who's actually on right now!) has a similar-ish voice.
but I imagine that at least the most recent one should still be up on iPlayer
Ah! I've just checked and the first episode of the current series isn't available any more and the second episode expires in an hour. But that's okay, you can usually join these programmes anywhere and catch up fairly quickly.
I don't listen to much radio other than musicInteresting! Are there any other programmes

Quite a packed schedule there! I really don't listen to as much radio as I'd like -- I keep meaning to catch up with some of the vast Radio 4 archive, but it's always so hard to find the time...
Yes! I must admit I don't pay close attention to it most of the time. It's usually just a background soundtrack, keeping me company as I work through the day. But it's taken a while to fine tune it to the form it takes now. And I haven't followed it all today...like you, I keep meaning to catch up with the vast archive but we probably need another life (or two) in their entirety to do it justice! I have spent hours compiling lists and bookmarked links to those archived programmes in the sort of order I'd like to eventually listen to them. Eventually I realised there were well over 1000 episodes in the list at the point I stopped and just decided to stick with what I'd compiled and then leave the rest more or less to chance. It is scary just how much is actually freely available for the rest of our lives to access.
