Summary:
“AH! I can’t stand it anymore!” Jaejoong screams, fingers digging into his scalp in frustration. “Yoochun, go get him,” he commands.
“Why do I have to go get him? Make Junsu go get him!” Yoochun protests, glaring at the younger.
“Nu-uh,” Junsu sing-songs, “hyung asked you first. That’s a binding legal contract in my book,” he smirks.
Yoochun rounds to Jaejoong. “But Jae-hyung, I’m older!” he whines, which is totally not suitable to his age.
Jaejoong growls at the both of them, fingers returning to his already abused head. “Junsu…just go, okay? Just do it. Please go retrieve the pompous ass so we can move on with our lives and get done with our job at a decent time.” Jae sighs. That new Anne Hatheway movie is coming on tonight and I wanted to watch it, but the way things are going…
Junsu huffs an amazing pout and storms off, leaving the other two standing on the roof of the building. Turning to his right with a hand to his ear, he asks, “And what did our great leader say he had to do?” Jaejoong lets out a sigh.
Through a bit of electronic static, Changmin answers in his ear, “Dunno, said something about meeting a friend. I’m sure he’ll be done in time for us to complete the mission,” Changmin states logically. Changmin is sitting at his desk back at their apartment (or headquarters, as Junsu liked to call it) munching on some chips, while checking and re-checking their mission details and profiles.
They were a well-oiled machine, the five of them. They were also the best money could buy, that is, if you wanted someone dead. Yunho, their overbearing and slightly eccentric leader, was the head of their little band of agents. His specialty was hand-to-hand combat. He could take on ten armed enemies at once, emerging without a single scratch. Sadly, he also used this to his advantage when they fought over the comfy seat on movie nights. Changmin rubbed his jaw remembering the last time he had vied against the leader for that precious spot…he ended up sitting on the cold floor through the movie.
The only person that could match him was Jaejoong, but not physically. Jaejoong could scare the shit out of you by just glaring at you. He specialized in weapons fighting, a pistol and dagger as his favorites. Jaejoong was ice-cold, the type that would definitely stab you in the middle of the night if you crossed paths with him. Changmin shudders, worried about the safety of their leader if he had made Jaejoong this pissed.
Yoochun, on the other hand, was more laid back and carefree; whenever Jaejoong was about to stab someone, it would always be Yoochun who calmed him down. From America, Changmin believed that he attained his easygoing nature there, as well as his fascination with pyrotechnics. Yes, Yoochun was a pyromaniac, but a damned skilled one. He fashioned all sort of explosives-he especially loved Napalm, but had a special place in his heart for flushing cherry bombs down the toilet when no one was expecting it. Boy, had Jaejoong been surprised that morning. Changmin chuckles, still not quite believing that they hadn’t become a group of four that morning.
Yoochun’s voice breaks through his reverie. “Hey, do you think that the reason why Junsu has such a duck butt is because he shoots with his ass in the air? I bet other birds perch on it while he’s on the job,” Yoochun laughs to himself.
“I heard that.” Changmin breaks in through Yoochun’s earpiece. “You are going to be in so much trouble when I tell Junsu-hyung that,” Changmin teases.
“You wouldn’t do that, would you, Minnie-ah?” Yoochun coos into the transmitter.
“Watch me.” Changmin bristles at the all too cute nickname.
Yoochun hears the earnestness in his dongsaeng’s voice. Crap, he’s got me. “Please, don’t tell him, Min-ah. He’s barely forgiven me for putting that smoke bomb in his underwear drawer.” Hot pants indeed. He snickers, remembering his own little joke.
“Hmmm,” Changmin ponders the idea, then replies maliciously, “Call me hyung first.”
Yoochun groans and turns off his transmitter. “We really need to teach that kid some manners,” he sighs to Jaejoong.
“I heard that too, you idiot. You just turned up the volume.” Changmin says threateningly.
“Oh, Min-ah, you heard that? Okay, how about this, I’ll bring you home a burger or something,” Yoochun offers.
“Make it three with large fries and a drink and maybe a chicken sandwich…Hey can you pick up some pizza too?” he asks happily.
“Fine.” Yoochun gives in, thinking of how he got himself into this mess…oh yeah his big mouth. Yoochun glances at his destitute wallet and groans.
Changmin smirks to himself and his accomplishment. He’d probably tell Junsu later anyway, just to add some excitement to some rainy day. Junsu was the group’s sniper and an expert marksman. The only problem is that the only time Junsu stays still is when he is either sniping or sleeping. Scratch that, Changmin ponders, placing a finger to his lips-he kicks in his sleep too. Back when they were just starting out and didn’t have as much money, it was Junsu and Changmin who shared a room, being the youngest. Changmin had learned of Junsu’s incapability of stillness the hard way, usually with a foot shoved in his mouth every night. Changmin glances around his desk, memories of those horrid nights filtering back into his brain, his extra large brain.
As for him, Changmin is the group’s resident genius. He knows that and the others do too. They just refuse to accept it. He is a hacker, a damn good one, and has been doing it since middle school. He’s the one who finds information needed to complete the missions and takes out any technological obstacles in their way.
Their mission tonight was at to go down at a warehouse by the harbor, where an underground syndicate head was to be meeting another one. Too bad for the former that the latter had paid them quite a sum to off his enemy. Changmin sighs; that is, if they would get there in time to complete it. That means Yunho would have to hurry his ass up.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Junsu nonchalantly slides into the cafe and spots Yunho sitting and sipping coffee while in deep conversation with a girl.
A girl!? Junsu thinks. Jaejoong-hyung is going to murder him if he finds out he’s jeopardizing this mission over a woman…Damn, why is his phone off!
Junsu types into his own cell phone, a pretty pink little thing, a very threatening message to their engrossed leader. He sits at the table behind Yunho with his own cup of coffee before stealthily shoving it into the leaders’ dangling hand.
Yunho’s eyes widen before apologizing to his ‘date’ and pulling out the cell phone. He blanches at the message that promised unheard of atrocities, but after his color returns, he simply deposits it in his pocket.
Oh no he didn’t! That was MY phone! Junsu screams in his head. He slowly turns on his communicator so as to let the others listen into their leader’s conversation. If he says one thing wrong, Jae-hyung’s going to have his ass. He smirks to himself knowing he’s got the ultimate plan for revenge for his kidnapped phone.
“Who was that, Yunnie?” the girl asks, pushing her brown hair behind an ear, in an extremely sweet and sickening voice. That and the combination of the nickname nearly makes all members, now listening, gag.
“Oh, no one important,” Yunho replies. Gotcha! Junsu thinks.
Just at that moment, the glass window they are sitting in front of shatters, and both Yunho and Junsu’s instincts bolt into action as they dive behind some tables and retrieve respective weapons, looking for the threat.
Yunho notices the blood trickling down the white table and glances at his date…now with a bullet straight through her head, blood splattered all over her pretty pink shirt.
“Oops,” Jaejoong sarcastically remarks through the transmitter.
“What the FUCK, Jae!” Yunho screams into his transmitter, having turned it on during the confusion. “She was HOT and she was totally digging me! I could have gotten me some of that and you just up and took her out!” he yells indignantly.
“Well, I’m not the one forsaking their family and their job over some scrawny piece of ass!” Jaejoong retorts.
Junsu stays out of the argument, letting the two eldest go at it, until he realizes… “Jaejoong-hyung,” he states, without his usual cheeriness and his voice an octave lower, “you couldn’t have taken her out, with your pistol. Tell me, did you use my sniper rifle?” he questions, his voice even and steady.
“U-um,” Jaejoong hesitates. He knows Junsu is very particular about his belongings, especially his sniper rifle, his ‘baby’. As he always said, it was made and adjusted just for him and that if anyone else used it, well, then consequences would be dire.
Junsu suddenly rushes out of the building with a dolphin-like squeal of rage, most likely to wring Jaejoong’s neck. Yunho hesitates a little before following, wondering whether to save Jaejoong or himself from Junsu’s wrath.
Yoochun and Changmin laugh to themselves as Yoochun pulls the car around so they could actually get to their mission on time.
“What do you think?” Yoochun asks Changmin.
“About the dead body, leave it for the cops to deal with. As for the drama queens, let them fight it out. At least it’ll be interesting,” Changmin states humorously.
Yoochun laughs at the youngest’s weird sense of entertainment.
“COME ON, GUYS!” Yoochun screams from their black Lexus IS-250, “It’s almost seven!”
The other three pile into the car, but not without some ‘accidental’ bumping and some intentional shoving, resulting in an elbow to Yunho’s rib and to Jaejoong’s eye. As for Junsu, he gets a couple developing bruises along his shins. Jaejoong sits up front, alongside Yoochun, with Yunho and Junsu in the back so as to separate most of their fighting. Junsu keeps wiping his gun, occasionally throwing dirty looks toward Jaejoong.
“Now that you have all stopped being idiots,” Changmin’s voice rings out.
“Hey, I wasn’t being an idiot!” Yoochun protests.
“Oh yeah, Junsu, I have something to tell you after you are finished,” Changmin deadpans.
“Just get on with it!” Yoochun practically screams.
Changmin clears his throat. “I uploaded the directions to the site, along with blueprints, satellite photos, and an estimation of man and fire power that the target has. I also have the codes for their simplistic security system, and I’ve already logged into the security cameras of the place so as to keep an eye out for you guys. They plan on conducting the business deal around eight, so I suggest you guys get moving.”
Yunho, entering his leader state of mind, glances over the information before a certain glint comes into his eyes. “Okay guys, let’s do this!”
---------------------------------------------------------
Upon arriving at their destination, they set right to work. After breaking into the building, using Changmin’s codes, Yoochun and Junsu head to the higher levels of the building so that Junsu could set up in a good position. Jaejoong and Yunho follow Changmin’s direction toward the business dealing.
“You have two in the next passage, armed.” Changmin states.
Yunho grins before giving an ‘after you’ gesture, to which Jaejoong rolls his eyes.
Sliding out from the adjacent hallway, Jaejoong pulls out his blade, and in one swift motion, slices his opponent’s throat, if you could call the now lump of limp meat that.
Yunho follows Jaejoong’s swift movements into the hallway, coming up behind the other enemy and easily breaking the guy’s neck with his hands before the dead man could even let out a sound. They glance behind at their dirty work before looking at each other challengingly.
“So…” Yunho whispers, “Do you want to add a little spice to this mission?”
“You know I always like it hot,” Jaejoong returns seethingly, that familiar glint coming into his eyes.
“And I’m always up for the competition.” Yunho counters. “Best and Most. One hundred dollars,” he states the grounds for competition. “Junsu, Yoochun, you in?”
“Hell yeah!” Junsu squeaks into the transmitter.
“Not me, I’ll be the clean up crew.” Yoochun frowns, knowing that this was a stealth mission with not much room for his professional antics.
“I’ll keep track,” Changmin replies. “That means Yoochun and I are the judges.”
Yunho leers at Jaejoong. “Let’s go then, and see what you got!”
They barge into the main room guns, blades, and fists blazing. The poor men in there had no clue what had happened, except that they were under attack. Jaejoong slinks in and out between them, slicing the ones who dared to get too close and shooting those that ran. Yunho takes his fist and bashes it into the face of the guy he comes to first before throwing himself in the middle of about eight guys.
Junsu opens fire, taking out loners, while protecting his hyungs from surprise attacks. Seeing one sneaking up on Yunho, he shot out the man’s kneecaps right when Yunho turns around, elbowing him in the face. He then turns and sends him flying with a strong kick to the jaw…straight into Jaejoong, who turns to catch him on his dagger.
“No cheating!” he hisses at Yunho, before throwing the corpse to the ground.
“Sorry, Jae, guess I didn’t see you there.” Yunho smiles while sending yet another opponent flying face first into a wall.
“If you guys don’t stop arguing, I’m going to win this,” Junsu states while simultaneously taking out five guys on the outskirts of the group.
After getting bored from the endless slaughter, Yoochun leaves all the excitement up to those three as he goes to complete his part of the mission. After attaching the last wire to the last block of C4 explosives wrapped around the last foundational pillar of the place, he wipes the sweat from his brow. He smiles in anticipation for the ‘fireworks’ that would be going on later before going up to join the rest and to see who had won their little game.
Upon returning, he finds Jaejoong leaning up against the wall, cleaning his dagger on a dead man’s handkerchief, while Yunho has one guy by the collar, beating him for information. Junsu walks down the stairs with his ‘baby’ already packed away and joins Jaejoong on the wall, their previous skirmish already forgotten in the excitement of the mission.
“I’ll ask you one last time. Where is your boss?” Yunho spits the words out through his teeth, visibly frustrated at the tight-lipped vermin.
“S-she never s-showed u-up,” he cries.
“She?” Yunho is thrown off for a moment. “Well, why wasn’t she here?”
“S-she had an appointment at a c-cafe earlier t-today…”
This statement catches Jaejoong’s attention as he bounces off the wall and walks toward the defeated thing in Yunho’s hands.
“Was she about this tall?” Jaejoong questions, gesturing with his hand, “with brown hair and a pink flowery shirt?”
The captive nods.
“Did she have the most sickeningly sweet voice that just made you want to rip out her vocal cords?”
Again, a confirming nod.
Yunho turns to Jaejoong. “What? Do you know her?” he questions.
“No, but you do.”
Yunho’s face is priceless when confused.
“Earth to Yunho! The girl you had coffee with this afternoon? Did she not seem a bit suspicious to you?” Jaejoong asks, starting to get frustrated with Yunho’s denseness.
“No, I thought she was sweet and hot!” he adds.
“Well, I thought she was a bitch. Moving on…got a picture of her?”
“Oh yeah, I snuck one of her before you shot her.” He glares, then pulls out a familiar pink phone.
Jaejoong grabs the phone out of his hands before shoving it in the face of their captive.
“This her?”
He nods realizing that she was dead long before the rest of his gang met their fate. Jaejoong places the phone back in Yunho’s still outstretched hand in victory. Yunho’s jaw drops, distracting him from an angry Junsu snatching his precious phone back from the stunned man.
“Guys, hate to bother the murder mystery going on, but one, I’m starving over here, and two, someone alerted the police…so they’re on their way now.” Changmin states in boredom.
“Shit!” They all exclaim at once. Yunho drops the guy before giving him a swift kick to the face, successfully knocking him out or killing him, no time to check now.
“Let’s get out of here!” he orders, “Yoochun, do your thing.” He gives a little mock solute before leaving with the other two in tow.
“Just remember to pick me up out back!” he yells back. “Don’t forget me like last time!”
Yoochun collects his things, while arming the detonator. I’m really going to have to work with Changmin on getting these detonators to work at long distances. I really hate being left behind.
Safely outside he blows the building a kiss before pressing the button that will bury all evidence of them ever being there.
As the dust rises from the debris, the black Lexus pulls up and he hops in with the others.
“Hey, can we pick up some food?” Yoochun asks, remembering his promise with Changmin. “My treat,” he offers, knowing that’s the only way he’ll get the others to go along with it.
“Alright.” Yunho agrees. “What will it be?”
“Uh…burgers, fries, chicken, and pizza. Probably should throw in a couple milkshakes too,” Yoochun lists.
“Ooh, someone is being blackmailed by Changmin,” Junsu teased.
“Yeah that’s right.” Changmin chimes in. “Now get back here! I’m dying of hunger!”
------------------------------------------------------------------
Back home, another argument breaks out over their game as Changmin sits, munching away.
“Well, you guys were tied at the end, but then we learned about your little girlfriend,” Changmin speaks over his food. “That makes Jaejoong-hyung leading by one kill. He wins most.”
Yoochun nods in agreement. “The judges have spoken!” he declares a little too dramatically.
“B-but, wait!” Yunho’s competitive streak getting the best of him, “You should have to win by two, so that means that no one won! Right?” He was clearly searching for a loophole.
“I guess you have a point.” Changmin states and Yunho grins like a little boy. “But, you were fraternizing with the enemy so we think we’ll deduct a point from you.” Yunho’s face falls.
Yoochun stands up and takes Jaejoong’s hand before thrusting into the air declaring him undoubtedly the winner.
Yunho sputters at the injustice of it all. “Fine then,” he pouts. “Who got best?”
Changmin and Yoochun turn their heads in quiet conference before turning to face their hyung and grinning like devils.
“TIE!” they both state.
“WHAT!?” Yunho, Jaejoong, and Junsu scream.
“Best kill of the night,” Yoochun announces. “When Junsu took out the knees of one guy right when Yunho kicked him into Jaejoong’s dagger. That was freaking awesome!”
Junsu just sits and stares as both Yunho and Jaejoong jump up to start arguing with Yoochun. Changmin just chuckles at their dysfunctional ‘family’. That was until someone sends a drink flying toward both Junsu’s rifle and Changmin’s computer. The two youngest stare in horror as forty-four ounces of sticky soda splash on their most precious items.
The other three stop arguing as a chill runs up their backs. Glancing back, they see the two babies of the group seething at them with looks, hands, and feet (and probably a knife somewhere too), ready to kill.
An “oh shit” is heard somewhere before the two release their fury on the remaining three. Sadly, it seemed Jaejoong was not going to get to watch that Anne Hatheway movie tonight, at least not while fearing for his life.
