Author's complaining notes - if you want you can skip this bit!
I started the new year with good intentions to get some writing done and reconnect with LJ but life has been conspiring to stop me. First of all we lost our internet completely and then when I finally got that sorted my computer died.
Fortunately I had some of my stories on Google Drive and the rest are backed up on my memory stick. Since my only wifi enabled device is my phone, I wanted to see if I could publish a story from google drive to LJ.
Fortunately I discovered this un-posted story, which has already been checked by the lovely wanted_a_pony.
Cut and pasted in chrome using no fancy apps, so please excuse any crappy formatting.
More notes This is a sequel to “Guilty Little Secret”, but you don't need to have read that story to follow this one.
Title: X-Treme Measures
Author: mckaysmonkey
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Pairing: John/Rodney, established relationship
Rating: R
Spoilers: none
Warnings: none
Word count: 670
Summary: Rodney is not impressed when he finds some new fan fiction on the Atlantis server.
“John, there's something you've got to see,” Rodney announced, as he walked into John's room.
“Hello Rodney, nice to see you too. You could have knocked, you know,” John sighed.
“What for? It's not like I haven't seen you naked before,” Rodney pointed out. He put his laptop down on John's bed and turned it on.
Curious despite himself, John looked over his shoulder to see what all the fuss was about. Rodney navigated to one of the public folders on the main Atlantis server, and opened an innocent looking Word document.
“I was looking for a movie for us to watch this evening, when I noticed this. It wasn't encrypted or anything, just sitting there where anyone could read it.” Rodney explained.
“You're worried about Wormhole X-Treme fan fiction?” John asked, one eyebrow raised.
“You haven't read it yet,” Rodney pointed out, his expression grim.
John started skimming through the document, but he paused in shock when he came to the names of the main characters.
“Oh god, it's us isn't it? They've put us in one of their fan fiction stories.” John tried not to panic. Just because a fan girl in one of the science teams thought they would make a cute couple didn't mean that all of Atlantis knew that he was in a relationship with Rodney.
“Don't worry, I'm going to figure out who wrote this and make sure they don't have any hot water for at least a month,” Rodney snarled. He closed the laptop and stormed out of the room as abruptly as he had arrived, leaving behind a stunned John Sheppard.
Of course that should have been the end of it, but John Sheppard was a curious sort of guy and couldn't resist tracking down the story, or stories as it turned out since there were several of them.
Later that evening he sat down and started to read. He was interrupted by Rodney walking in unannounced as usual.
Rodney spotted the guilty look on his face and came over to see what he was reading.
“Oh my god, please tell me you're not reading that drivel,” he complained.
“I was curious, okay,” John said defensively.
“It's not even anything like us,” Rodney pointed out.
“Well you're certainly that bossy but I must admit I can't see you on top,” John had to agree. “You're just too lazy.”
“I never heard any complaints before,” Rodney said with a smirk.
“So sue me, I kinda like your ass.” John grinned, reaching out to stroke said ass.
“You know, I could probably write something better than that in my sleep,” Rodney boasted.
“Okay then,” John dared him.
“What?” Rodney said, looking puzzled.
“Write me something hot,” John explained.
“Fine, I will. Later. I've got plans for you this evening,” Rodney said.
“Do they include getting naked and sticky and sweaty?” John asked hopefully.
“They certainly do,” Rodney agreed, leaning in for a kiss.
John forgot all about the discussion until a couple of days later. He was now starting to get used to Rodney's habit of just bursting into his room without knocking so he didn't bat an eyelid when Rodney walked in, laptop under one arm.
“I'm done,” Rodney announced, looking smug.
“Done what?” John asked, wondering what on Atlantis Rodney was talking about.
“With the story of course,” Rodney explained. He held his laptop out to demonstrate.
“Wait, you actually wrote it? Great, let's see then,” John said.
John settled down next to Rodney with a growing sense of excitement. The story didn't disappoint him.
“So, that thing on page two with the thing, you actually want to do that to me?” he asked hopefully. “Because I'd totally be on board with that.”
“Oh definitely,” Rodney replied with a smirk. “I don't suppose you have any rope?”
