1. They are ultimately going to do what they are going to do. Make sure he is properly educated and protected, beyond that there isn't a lot you can do that doesn't have the potential to make it worse. He doesn't need a buddy, he needs a Dad.

2. If they knew and didn't tell you, how would you feel?

I have to go with talk to him and make sure he knows that you are concerned and want to make sure he knows how to minimize the risk of pregnancy. Make sure to emphasize the point that you think it would be better to wait, but don't try to forbid it either. They are going to do what they are going to do.

All this will be more effective if the girlfriend is getting a similar message from her parents. They may try to take a different path. I know I had friends whose girlfriends were forbidden to continue seeing them and all it did was make the girls get good at being sneaky. These are also the only girls I knew who got abortions.

Personally I chose not to wait because I felt like the time was right. And by that I mean I wanted to, I didn't care what my friends had to say about it. And the most important thing of all, I would never regret the person. Which while we are no longer on speaking terms, that is still very true. If he hasn't gotten that far yet, you might want to bring that up ( ... )
