I feel pretty ooky today, like I am getting or trying to get some sort of cold or flu or something. Sad. BUT! I'm not doing anything so I might as well post to LJ.

My eyesight has improved since I have been taking Adderall. What the hell. I remember when I realized that I would need reading glasses in addition to the glasses I've worn since ( Read more... )

on the nod from a correspondent here i have been slavishly following boardwalk empire - i am loving it. and i am also loving the whole gangster thing, i had dismissed it along with cowboy films, as films about blokes, but watched 'public enemies' and enjoyed it so much i followed up with 'heat'. i am loving that director, now.

law and order uk - haha! wigs! of course. just looks normal to me.

wallander - worth getting the scandie version with subs, the guy playing wallander is great, and the stories are quite different. i watched all the scandie ones and now they are being repeated i am doing it again - it is nice to have the illusion of understanding swedish, too.

nice to see you online again. good that the reason you haven't been here is you have been too busy having a life! i should be so lucky!

Oh! Michael Mann is one of my favorite directors! You have to see The Insider, it's so great, the soundtrack is super haunting... Russell Crowe is amazing in it. He should have won the Oscar for it that year (he was nominated) but didn't and that's kind of why he got it the next year for Gladiator.

Have you seen the updated Sherlock yet? Friends of friends visiting from Scotland were raving about it.

And Collateral is very good too. I don't like Tom Cruise or Jamie Foxx very much either but it's great, esp. this one scene where they see some feral animals walking around downtown LA I think. It's very quick, just a guy in a car and music playing and whoops there's a coyote or wild dog or something the end but the way Mann films it, it's marvelous.

Chase is so aptly named. I am enjoying the hell out of it, also the new Nikita. Also for some strange reason, Haven, which has to be the stupidest show. It's driving me crazy that there are two episodes left that don't seem likely to air. Please let me see them, "sy" "fy"! I watched that episode of L&O: LA you mentioned and it was good to see the rich guy get it. I missed the DOINK DOINK, though. No doink-doink in this one. ANYHOO. No one can pull off the tired one-liners like Jerry Orbach used to (and possibly Belzer still does? Haven't seen SVU in years). Hi Liz!

Hi Cleo! See if you can get some L&O:UK, it has the DOINK DOINK and BSG's Lee Adama. Plus every inch of London is on closed-curcuit TV practically so there's that, half the time they have a tape of the crime. Also the guy who isn't Adama seems to be an English version of Belzer/Orbach and I find him quite charming. Oh, and lots of the women on the show are agreeably horse-faced, to put it bluntly, which is very refreshing.

Have you been watching Boardwalk Empire by any chance? Gretchen Mol is in it as an aging beauty and she is just radiantly beautiful.

I saw an episode of the UK L&O a while back and was freaked out by the Bamber. But British casting is refreshing, I agree. I'm glad you like Luther, have you gotten to the face-licker episode yet? I have a few episodes of Boardwalk but haven't watched them yet. Actually I started the first one and when there was no Omar right away I decided to watch it some other time. Although I do like Michael Pitt and was intrigued by him lying in the road. There is a new Canadian series (Shattered) that stars Callum Keith Rennie that I was looking forward to but I watched the first one and it was so bad that I'm afraid to watch the rest of what I have. I'm hoping it gets better. I think I have the Sherlock but I haven't watched it yet. The end. I think.

OMG, when I picked "pot" as the picture I thought it was going to be a pot leaf. Huh. I need to refresh myself on my user pics.
