Artie had been avoiding looking at Tina, because he was terrified of being caught staring at her. Now he'd had time to calm down, he did miss her, and didn't know how to approach her. It was a situation he'd never been in before.

He narrowly avoided groaning aloud when Mr Schue pulled his name out of the hat as paired with her. Of course. He glanced over at her, noticing she was looking at horrified as he was. This was going to be a difficult week.

Tina had been staring down at her hands while Mr. Schuester spoke, a little drowsy because she hadn't been sleeping well lately. But when she heard her partner's name announced, her head shot up. If Tina still had her fake stutter, the first words out of her mouth would have been "Oh g-god." Instead, she held her tongue and looked in Artie's direction, feeling her stomach churn. They hadn't spoken in two weeks, and now they had to sing together? Artie didn't look thrilled either ( ... )

Artie had been hoping to avoid Tina until at least tomorrow, till he could get his head around the fact that he had to work with her. He'd been packing his bag when he looked up at Tina's words.

He paused, before continuing to put the bag on the back of his chair, using the time to gather his thoughts. He wasn't going to cave in. She lied to him. "Sure," he said, in a slightly offhanded way.

This all felt so strange and wrong to Tina. It was like talking someone wearing an Artie-shaped mask. "Well," she started, feeling her hands sweat as she gripped the strap of her shoulder bag, "I...know I said I wouldn't bother you after...what happened, but um, since we're partnered together this week, I guess I was hoping we could be... I dunno, professional about it?"

Ferrari sighed heavily as she watched Mr. Shuester tell them their theme of the week. she wasn't sure if she should be excited about this or not. She was friends with a couple of the kids here. Luckily, both Quinn and Kurt had been paired together so she wasn't going to get either of the two people who hated her most in here. She glanced around the room to see who was still available and then back at Will to wait for her partner to be announced.

Breanah looked up from the book she was reading as Mr Schue told them their theme. Duets. Really? Breanah took a quick look at who was in the room. She sighed to herself and hung her head in a silent prayer that she'd get paired up with someone (namely Mercedes) who wouldn't be as overly enthused at this.

The glare that Kurt reflexively shot Quinn at the news probably could have cut glass. He wanted to jump up and passionately protest to Mr Schue what a travesty this was, and that he couldn't promise he wouldn't strangle her with her Cheerio skirt by the end of it. He wanted to throw a massive diva-esque tantrum and declare how his talent wasn't being met on equal level. He also wanted to point out that any love song sung by both of them was just going to end up looking like a scene from Not Another Teen Movie, and he even petulantly wanted to stamp his foot and pout ( ... )

Quinn's head snapped in Kurt's direction upon Mr. Schuester's instruction, her slumped posture stiffening almost instantly as she sat up, taking her chin off her fist. Her mouth opened as if she was going to speak, but, upong giving another quick glance in Kurt's direction, couldn't expel anything - only an awkward hitch of a breath before she slumped back into her seat with a sigh. Kurt hadn't spoken up, caused a fuss, or stormed out in protest. If he was going to do this, Quinn could, too ( ... )

"I don't think the janitors would appreciate blood shed, so I guess a healthy bitch slap is out of the question," Kurt responded, dropping his hand onto his thigh from where he had been boredly chewing on his pinking nail as he propped his head up. Why couldn't he be paired with Mercedes? They would totally rock the duet thing and actually have fun in the process. Now another week in Glee bit the dust.

He looked up at her, his blue eyes holding her gaze as he raised an eyebrow. "I have plenty of ideas. The question is, will you bother to listen to me?"

"The last thing I think we both need is to have Mr. Schue on us for not working together," Quinn sighed, rolling her eyes. If the cheerio was to be honest (which she never really was), she was far too low on energy to exert any into a possible bitch fight with Kurt. She hadn't slept more than a few hours since Thanksgiving, and the cheerios practices combined with...whatever had been happening in her body was exhausting, and the last thing she needed was to end up in the Nurse's office. People talk, and Quinn didn't need any more gossip than she'd already gotten to her name.

She sighed, her shoulders slumping as she broke her posture. "All of my suggestions for this club were denied by Mr Schue. Apparently it's inappropriate to sing about religion in public schools," she said stubbornly, almost childishly. She licked her lips and broke her focus, her eyes drifting off as she finished. "So I don't really have a choice, do I?"

Mercedes relaxed back in her chair with her arms crossed, looking around at the currently set couples and still available people. Interesting. Both pairings were tense beyond belief but did have potential to be entertaining to watch. Well, about as much potential as a train wreck anyway... The diva shook her head a bit to clear her mind. There was certainly going to be some "fun" goings on this week, that was for certain. Her eyes roamed over the entire club before sliding back to Mr. Schue. Mercedes wondered just what that old top hat would do to her. The fates should be nice..she hoped.
