Tina wondered if she was doing the right thing by deciding to talk to Artie. She realized she'd missed his friendship, but it wasn't until yesterday she realized she was missing something more.
She'd made a half-assed excuse to Mike that she had an appointment right after club and that he shouldn't wait for her. But she didn't even have the nerve to say it to his face, she'd sent him a text message during lunch. While they were at the same table.
And when they were actually at rehearsal, Tina couldn't stomach trying to sit next to the boy she called her boyfriend. She was worrying too much about what to say to Artie after rehearsal that she knew she couldn't put on the act of playing the adoring girlfriend.
When Glee time ended, Tina just stayed in her seat, staring at her lap for awhile until she and Artie were the only ones present. She gave a tiny nod in greeting, trying not to melt at his smile. "H-hi. Um...good rehearsal?" Yes, Tina, because small talk is totally what you came here for.
Artie gave a soft laugh. "Yeah. Rachel sniping at Finn. Santana bitching everyone out... good rehearsal." Actually, when they'd rehearsed, it was good, but the rest...
He wheeled closer to her, frowning slightly. "Tina... look, I know we haven't talked properly in a long time." Or ever, really. And that was the problem. "But... yesterday and today, you've seemed off. Well apart from at Breadstix." And he had been trying not to shoot daggers at Mike as he and Tina had hugged, focusing on pretending with Brittany. "And... that's not like you." At least, not like her now. Mike had brought her out of her shell much more than he'd ever done, and he was jealous of that fact, but he also loved seeing it in her.

She smiled weakly at his summation of the rehearsal. "Heh, some things never really change, I guess..."
Tina looked at as he spoke, her lips tightly pressed together because she was afraid of blurting out the truth. "W-well, that's 'cause I'd never been to Breadstix before and I was really happy to see Kurt.....But yeah. I know. I'm being weird. I mean...weird for me." She looked slightly off to the side when she spoke next.

Artie wanted to reach out, to touch her and reassure her, but he couldn't. That was her boyfriend's job. He could just be the friend she needed right now.
He cocked his head slightly to one side. "But... you're the most together person I know. You've always been the one to know who you are when the rest of us flounder. You have your own style, your own way... all of it just, well, you."
