Now that the dust had settled a little, Burt needed to make sure his son was doing okay with everything. The accident left a lot of people numb and shocked that something like that could happen in a town like Lima, but it was also the cold sobering truth of what stupidity could do in the wrong hands. And now Blaine and young Mike Chang were suffering the consequences of that.

Burt pulled up a chair beside Kurt's and sat down. He rested a hand on Kurt's shoulder and massaged it softly. "You doing okay, kiddo? I know you're angry, alright? But you gotta make sure you direct it appropriately and not do or say nothing you're gonna regret."

Kurt turned his head and gave his dad a tired look. "I'm not sure I have the energy to pee right now. I'll work on that redirecting when I can think a little straighter. I was just so scared, Dad. I can't believe they had to remove his spleen. It was terrifying, how much pain he was in. But at least they could fix it and it wasn't anything that he can't recover from."

"But just... just... argh!" he growled in frustration and the pace quickened of his thumb brushing over Blaine's limp knuckles. "His uncle is the biggest fucking asshole!" he hissed, fighting not to raise his voice. He looked at his dad, feeling wounded and vulnerable. "Actually, it's sort of what I needed to talk to you about. Only, I didn't want it to be like this."

Burt's eyebrows rose jsut slightly in question at hearing that his kid wanted to talk to him about something. "Okay, one, you watch your tongue, kiddo. I know you're upset but you don't need to have your mouth in the toilet to do it. Blaine's uncle is doing the best he can for now, but it ain't an easy siuation for anyone. But you know you can talk to me about anything, so what is it? Something to do with Blaine? You kids going okay?"

Kurt sunk back a little when he got scolded for the bad language, but it wasn't something Burt ever let slide. He didn't ever tell Kurt to stop it, but he made it clear it wasn't what he should be doing. And as much as he wanted to protest about the dickhead Uncle Jason, it was just going to cause Kurt to want to swear more, so all he did was huff out a sigh and take a few moments to gather his thoughts as he smoothed the blankets near Blaine's elbow out ( ... )
