She knew just how close Cormac was to his parents, or at least had a very good idea of it from the way he spoke about them and the stories he told. She didn't just want to avoid making a bad impression and this was one event that her name was not going to carry her through.
The two of them stepped into the expansive foyer of the manor and Daphne offered their butler, Armond, a polite smile as she followed Cormac.
"Daphne Greengrass," she said, not quite sure if girlfriend orfriend was the way that Cormac was going to be introducing her.

The butler nodded his head knowingly, offering her his hand.
"Of course- yes, the woman who threw that magnificent anniversary party-" he said, clearly remembering now, pressing a light kiss to her palm. "That was the most fun I had in ages, I'll tell you-"
"Yes, Mum did say you got a bit wild after dinner-" Cormac said, laughing.
"Well, whoever was in charge of those gin fizzes had it out for me, I'll tell you," he said.
It was clear that while Armond was their butler, and had been since before Cormac and Beth were born, he was more like family than anything else. He ran a tight ship with the rest of the staff and took charge of this household in a way neither of his parents ever really wanted to.
